Do It Yourself Detailing
A professional detailer can really make your car look its best. Detailing your car on a regular basis can get very expensive. It will be expensive to buy the products all at once, but self-detailing can be much less expensive over the long term.

Do it yourself detailing - Step 1
Cleaning out your car is usually the first, and toughest step of self-detailing. Everything needs to go – all the trash, all the maps, every soda can – everything. Start with the cabin of the car, and move on to the trunk. Anything that you want to keep in your car should just be set aside.
Step 2 – Detailing your own car
Once you've gotten your car cleaned out, start going through your car inch-by-inch. Start with the smallest items - the face of the radio, the dashboard, the steering wheel, the glovebox. When cleaning your car, use products that are designed for each specific type of cleaning. Let any gunk fall to the floor, and you can clean it up later.
Detailing your car yourself – step three
Once you've got all the hard surfaces in your car cleaned off, pull out a vacuum. Completely vacuum all carpeted or upholstered surfaces - including under the seats and the roof lining. Use a spray-on automotive carpet cleaner to clean up any of the stains in the car. Treat your seats with carpet cleaner, vinyl cleaner or leather conditioner.
Detailing yourself, step 4
Next, wash and was the outside of the car. Use a very soft cloth and wax designed for the paint on your car. Wash the windshield with glass cleaner, inside and out. Treat the glass with a rain repellent, if you'd like.
Detailing it yourself – step 5
Now that your car has been detailed inside and out, check over your engine. Check out – or have your mechanic check out – the fluid levels, oil, and belts.
